IC-T8AHP
I HAD a ICOM IC-T8A. There are a lot of small problems, but
I was very happy with the radio.
On 1/2/99 I deposited their check!
-
(I had 5 batteries broke replaced and returned one
broke in the end!) There are two problems with the design of the battery
pack that effect the the performance of the snap. The material appears
to be eithertalc of fiber filled which will increase the impact strength
of the material, but will also decrease the materials flexibility.
-
The second issue is that the snap geometry itself
is flawed. A well designed snap wing should be tapered in thickness
so that the strain is evenly distributed along its length. In the
case of the ICOM battery snap the strain is concentrated at the base of
the snap in the U shaped area. It can be seen that the outer fibers
of the U are strained past the material's allowable limit under normal
operation of the snap. Two solutions are available, change the
material of the battery pack, or change the geometry of the snap. http://www.ideasincorp.com/
Please see the problems
with the ICOM - BP199 and the ICOM - BP200.
I asked my friend, WA8DBW
to help be since I am a stroke survival and cannot read or write well.
I think he is to easy on Icom and I am probably to hard, maybe!
